Becky Smith

Becky began studying at four years old with Becky Nalevanko's Dance and Tumbling of Des Moines, a nationally recognized studio for excellence.  After moving to Omaha in 1989,  Becky studied with Patti Herzog, a former student at The Joffrey Ballet School in New York.  During the ensuing years, she has studied with professional performers and acclaimed teachers throughout the U.S.  

     

While growing up, Becky earned numerous top honors and awards in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, and lyrical/contemporary.  In high school, she was a member of the state championship gymnastics team for floor exercise and the Millard North Dance Team the year it took national first place in jazz.  

 

Becky graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance.  Along with her studies in dance techniques and styles, she was educated in both kinesiology and pedagogy for preparation as an instructor.  In college, she performed solo and group roles as a principal dancer for the UNL Dance Co.  Her intensive dance training paved the way for her to become Miss Nebraska in 1999.  

 

Becky has eighteen years of teaching experience in all dance genres, including acrobatics and dance teams. She has choreographed local productions and award-winning group and solo routines for competitors as far away as Dallas, TX. In addition, her credits include professional work in commercial and industrial video, music video, and print. 

 

Becky has chosen to combine her love of dance with her love of children, creating a studio here in North Platte committed to excellence in education and young people's healthy physical and emotional growth.
